We are currently studying Christian Ethics through a video series published by the Lutheran Institute of Theology. The course is taught by Dr. Joel Biermann who is a seminary professor.

What does it mean to live a good life?

In a world filled with moral confusion, completing ideologies, and endless ethical gray zones, Christians are called to live lives that reflect God’s will with clarity, humility, and courage. But for Lutherans-who fiercely guard the doctrine of Justification by grace though faith-ethical questions often feel secondary, if not suspicious. After all, if our standing before God is by grace alone, what role does obedience play?

This course explores that question head-on. Drawing from Dr. Joel Biermann’s deep theological insight and the Lutheran traditions’ rich heritage, we will discover that ethics is not about earning salvation or moral grandstanding. Rather, it is about faithfully living as creatures within God’s creation, formed by his Word, shaped by our vocations, and called to serve our neighbors.

Whether you’re a pastor, lay-leader, student, or thoughtful Christian seeking formation, Lutheran Ethics will equip you to see the world rightly and live faithfully within it.
